Meaningless

Meaningless

A Poem by Paul Pruett

All that I have done and yet it seems not done.

All I have said and wanted to say.

It falls on deaf ears and blind colorless eyes.

Falls as dead leaves in a late October wind.

It all falls to the earth, to be crushed under foot of the uncaring.

My dreams of love and eternity are thrown aside.

Ashes scattered as the fire has long died away.

Try as I might there is nothing.

Try as I might I am given even less.

Visions of what I long for laughed at.

My heart shattered on the floor, ignored.

Swept away, pieces scattered to the four winds.

All I have done and yet it seems not done.

What I have wanted to say and not given the chance to say.

My desire for love unending is ripped from my grasp.

Everything that I held dear is meaningless.

I think this was beautifully written and the vulnerability you weren't afraid to show with your words is very admirable. Very good write.
