I think I lost myselfA Poem by YheelaHow did I get out here into the deep dark forest, where the shadows jealously guard their secrets and my careful footsteps sound like thunder.
Sometimes I imagine myself being followed but whenever I turn I can't even make out the path behind me.
It's so dark here, I can't tell if it should be sunlight or moonlight that I'm wishing for.
Moonlight, I think I would prefer moonlight. The silver would show the world in a more tolerable light, gold would hurt my eyes, make me cry.
I think I lost myself, on purpose. I think I lost myself to not have to deal with me, with us, with anything outside this dark black forest.
I let myself wander, pale as marble, cold as ice, alone alone alone, lost to myself forever. © 2012 YheelaAuthor's Note
