Washing a car and discovering the multiverseA Story by ZackOfBridge...It was strange that Eli had discovered the inescapable reality of boredom and demise that resided in each separate universe, but it was even stranger that he was washing his car in December. The streets were paved with tar and
loose dirt and that dirt swept into the air by the spinning of his tires and
was caught on the skin of his car by momentum. Now, in the unseasonably warm
temperature of this new winter he had to wash his car. And possibly, he was so
bored that his mind found clarity in the soap bubbles, but more likely than
that it was the truth he found in those spherical suds. He saw it when he was
scrubbing the chrome of the front tire. A clan of bubbles had conjoined and
each reflected a separate view of the same thing, Eli looking into the transparent
mirrors. To any other they could have simply been reflections and to even more
they could have been only bubbles, but to Eli, he saw in each of them an entire
universe, all to its own, separate and vast within itself, but so neighborly and alike. Unfortunately for Eli, in each of the individual universes, he was washing his car, and scrubbing at a tire that no one was going to notice. Scrubbing the reason the car was dirty in the first place. In each separate soapy universe Eli, had little common sense and consequently each form of Eli was doing the same f*****g thing in the same damn way. © 2014 ZackOfBridge |
