The need for darkness

This is an unedited poem like most of my other poems.

Running away from darkness
Is not going to do
What you think it will

Stay in darkness, roll
In darkness, play
In darkness, eat
In darkness. Drown.

“There’s always light at the end of the tunnel” they say or at least that is -
What we hope for - light.

But how would we know
Light without the dark?
How would we know happiness without sadness?

To become whole, you need
Both
Light and darkness is like yin and yang -
One does not exist without the
Other.
