Her jet-black tresses shine,
as the sheen of ebony
Or her hair glitters
like glinting strands of gold
Her eyes a shade
of sparkling jade
Or her hazel brown eyes
like bronze sunset skies
Her cheeks have a blush
of the red of rubies
Her arms shimmer
as does diamond dust
Her skin is radiant
like mother 'o' pearl
Her neck and figure,
sinuous and slender
as a diamond back snake
The coy quiver of her two lips
like blossoming tulips
Yeah, witness the creativity of the Almighty
The vast beauty in all variety..
Her nails one could fancy
are pink sapphire
Ah, she is a man's main desire
She ignites in him wild passion's fire.
But the terrific miss
may not always marry,
just any Tom, Dick or Harry
And even if a guy may be a lady-killer,
He may meet his match, a femme-fatale!
beautiful, vivid words to portray "the" "femme- fatale... even though we are all different, we all have a sense of beauty to us... and as they say :beauty is in the eye of the beholder"....lovely writing!
Thanks for sharing
Warmly,

Warm thanks for fantastic comment,
I think your poem speaks to the world cultural bias which gives women status based on their attractiveness. I kind of thought it was going to talk about aging, and how that affects women because of expectations. I guess because of using the word Mortal in the title. I enjoyed the rhythm of your work and the occasional use of rhyme is a technique I love to use in my own work. I have to confess, I had hoped for more, but it's a very good work. I look forward to reading more.

Thanks soo much for great noble comment,
Beauty comes in lots of forms and even more so in the eye of the beholder. There is someone for everyone or some similar saying comes to mind. The world is even more lovely when the viewer embraces inclusivity.

Indeed well said poetess, warm thanks for beautiful comment,
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Euripedes wrote, "To the mother, even the beetle is beautiful" but I've seen some truly beautiful beetles like the Japanese beetle and our common June Bug. Both are stunning in red, green and gold color contrast. But I don't think of beuty as an "outward" characteristic. A person can be perfectly proportioned, have a perfect nose, the cutest dimples and the brightest smile and still have a heart full of deceit and evil. Beauty is the heart that has no motive other than kindness, love and to help others. Of course, you can't get men to listen to that who are looking around fior a "trophy wife" to show off to their friends. I think a great many good women get left behind in the physical contest.

So wonderfully all inclusive!
Think how each fingerprint differs!
To me, marriage is not important.
Communication makes friends for life.
Awesome write!
