To court a recalcitrant child

Stars Like Daggers

 

I am jealous of the words

You do not say

Full of fate and

Laced with venom

The love that you refuse

To give in whispers

Blown into tempests

 

I am angry at the smiles

You do not give

As if love makes all

A summer fete

You refuse to attend

A minor rebellion

Poised to charge

 

I am broken for

The heart no longer mine

When I am reaching

Feeling wisps of songs

And laughter slipping

Through my hands

Like rope

 

I am not yours

To break

To bend

I do not lean into

Your faults in hope

A breath might catch

Your light

 

I am certain of

The strength

That I possess

Moving forward I

Return your doubts

There is nothing more

To face

And if I look backward

I am lost

Really like this poem, but the fourth stanza is to die for. I wish I had written those words.

We do move straight ahead, even after bad heartbreak because if we don't, we will get lost and maybe never find our way back to a possibility of finding love.
