You made me everything I knew I could be
You understood the person living within me
You helped me grow, and helped me know
And you gave me the confidence to let it show

My life is a list of places I wouldn’t have been
People I wouldn’t know and things still unseen
All the joy I would never have had if I was alone
A testament to you that’s stronger than stone

Your patience and respect speak more of a man
Than any amount of foolish bluster and sham
Their macho shenanigans and bullshit plans
Show why you’re my world’s only real man

When I met you a new “real” arose and it grew
No male, no female, only people, and you
And all the lies and all the fear melted away
Their s**t goes on, but we walk our own way

With your loyalty and your strength and faith
You helped me catch that ever-fleeing wraith
You brought your light into the darkest place
You helped me find happiness, ultimate grace
