Vermin

A Poem by Perry

I’m better when you do not

presume me an honorable man.

You, with your breeding, your

alpine beauty and pluck,

are symphonically designed.

And I am nothing better than a rat.

Yesterday, in Reykjavik, the wind

put pink in your porcelain features.

Today, you’ve dressed in assortments,

flashbulb smiles, and bluest silks.

Alas, embroidered lotus flower,

tomorrow, you’ll forget me.

Alas there are some personages that make us feel small and undeserving, through no fault of theirs! I try to “see” more of them until something, some time, would balance my looking up by several degrees. But that’s something each works on for themselves. 🙏🏻🕊

You’ve written a beautiful poem. I have a clear image of the woman in my own mind, she with her flashbulb smiles. So sad, so much hurt, knowing she will leave you. I have been there.

Thanks so much, Michael. Yes, flashbulb smiles, dazzling and dangerous.
Unrequited Love or Love lost? ...either way I liked it, well writ :)

Thanks, Dylan. Unrequited. Wherever she's going, he's unable to follow.
