The VesselA Poem by Zorrin86Drink your poison, my dear, It's dearer to me than any bed of wildflowers. But perhaps it's not poison at all, Rather an inscrutable concoction of mystery drugs, Or a glowing panacea to all the world's sufferings. Mein Harlot, I know not what prevents us from becoming savages, So breathe life into new harlots! With concoctions aplenty we can drink forbidden potions Until the Harpies come looking for us; Drunk with such auspices we will unearth new stones, Found new civilizations under cascading skies With the battered statues of Sovereigns as foundation! We will abolish all of the old gods and laws And build waterfalls on the ruins of a hideously corrupt civilization To wash ourselves clean of shameless lies and mockery. Good God! I would sooner drink your poison than remember it all. Give now your cup and let me drink in Peace, Among hidden orchards of ancient vines and lilac incenses. O cup of spite, of virtue! Uncork thy wild promises and secrets And quench my thirst of longing! © 2016 Zorrin86 |
