If you slumber and dream... you may be inspired...

Honestly, I drink and listen to Trop rock and reggae until I get to the point of feeling like I'm wasting my time and start putting pen to paper again. I doubt that will work for you, but there it is.

Interesting method. I am open to suggestions thats why I put this out there. Thanks for sharing.
- Take a walk.....take in the nature.....feel your surroundings, and notice how and what it makes you feel. Then let those feelings pour out onto the page without an ounce of thought. #FeelDon'tThink
- Read the work of others. Let them inspire you, then #FeelDon'tThink
- Close your eyes, drift into your imagination, and #FeelDon'tThink
In short: #FeelDon'tThink, because art lies in feeling, and has no room for thought.
Seriously when this happens to me I really do meditate and then I ask myself a question and then I ponder it... I start to write by answering myself:) I think the real trick is to get your fingers tapping and then the taps open up for you:)

I go through all my notebooks and my tablet for unfinished poems or a line I might be able to work with. I have hundreds of half finished poems where I just ran out of steam. I read and comment on others and hope my muse will take pity. You are not alone. It happens to most of us.

I stalk and kill an innocent bystander thereby creating a huge release of self disdain imagining all of my self hatred transfixed upon the “innocent” victim this of course is a temporary measure for the reality returns shortly afterwards and boom I have to go through the whole cycle again! :/

Oh dear. Such sacrifice for such short term inspiration?
when i am in a writing block, I write about it...that usually oils the gears a bit and gets the motor running again...and of course one thing that always helps me is doing a lot of reading and commenting...either the poems of the other writers will inspire me...or even as i am commenting i might write a line that gets me going.

Thanks for sharing your ideas Jacob. Much appreciated.
Writing is my life. It keeps me sane. My biggest hope is that my writing can make an impact in someone's life, even if it means it will just make someone smile or shed a tear. more..
