A dream

A dream

A Poem by _mal

The glare from the moon is enough to light up the whole hill top. Every sense in my body is tingling, alive, and I am so alert I could count each blade of grass, from where I am, crouched in the bush, watching the road.
Headlights cut through the darkness beside me and I shuffle back, quietly, quickly. My heart beating strongly in my throat, in case they’ve seen. Movement. Shadow people, the loud click of a lighter and I briefly see his face. Pale and long. Serious. There is nowhere I can go, he’ll wait me out. Behind me is dense bush, ahead, a clearing. I’m going to wind up in a bin bag like my friend. My feet are bleeding.

I like this. Maybe would suggest cutting "up" in "light up."

~ no, no... ~ it's not pointless at all... it's a beautifully articulated dream with a lot of poignant symbolism... it's a very moving piece of writing... loved it... and, it's great to see you post again...

Not pointless at all. Seems like a rather chilling dream. You ought to write a story if you can out of this, I'm intrigued.
