Genuine

I do not want to surprise you in a poem
I am not an entertainer
Call me a bad writer even
I express my thoughts
in paper
and if they are boring it is ok
they are genuine
and mine.

Pithy! Succinct Tight! Hits the bulls eye most cannot even see! Poems are not for the poet, poems are not for themselves. Poems are for the reader, which is why you love your words and know how to use them... even with the lie, you "don't want to surprise us," you do it anyway...

I write as a journal. I used to write for years and I never shared. I should have become a psychilogist. I like photoshooting of the brain.

Poet, phycologist... what difference does it make? Both are here for the same reasons... If more people spent time reading poetry, the psycho ologist would be out of business.

Yes indeed. I wish they read more poetry.

I took a class, oh dang! That was 23 years ago now... Time does not fly, it runs down rabbit holes! Anyway, It was a class on the Modern Poets and at the end of the semester, he said he was leaving teaching because no one reads poetry any more. In my class of about thirty, only three of us had EVER bought a book of poetry.

And the best part is when you read a poem it works it's magic for that time and place, bur reread it a year later and you get a completely different magic...
