I remember enough

I remember enough

A Poem by Sammi
"

My dad had cancer when i was little. A few things recently reminded me of it and this is just a little poem about what I remember.

"

I remember him lying there
The hospital bed
The buzz of the machines that surrounded him
The TV with headphones that amused me for hours
And distracted me from the pale figure draped in bed sheets

I don't remember what they told me
Or what I thought I knew
The sugar coated, child friendly
Verion of the truth

I remember the permanent Mark
That will stay with him forever
A big pink line down his stomach

I remember all the hugs I got
That I didn't understand

I remember when my daddy had cancer.

I tried to make the stanzas go 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, to represent a countdown... Not sure how well it worked.
