Infidelity: Part III- A Husband's DefenseA Poem by Bluehis thoughtsAh, my darling! My love and my life! It was a fatal error when I cheated on my wife. To you I have sinned; I broke our marriage vow. I’m sure that my soul is rotting somewhere now.
But please, sweet one, allow me to explain The uncensored predicaments of a husband long in
pain. I love you, you know that, and that won’t change a
bit. Yet you always take notice of my every misfit.
My silence is misunderstood as lacking interest. My opinions do not matter--you think you know what’s
best. My failures and my weaknesses are all that you can
see. That caused me to wonder if it’s worth loving me.
There was another woman who was so unlike you. She told me all my good things--the ones you never
knew. I wanted to be wanted and she gave me what you
lack. It was a sinful pleasure but I kept coming back.
It was a stupid act, I know, and forgiveness I
implore Though I will try to understand if you love me no
more. But, darling, please…with heaven’s aid, give us
another start. Recall our wedding promise--‘til death do us part. © 2014 BlueAuthor's Note
