I Am Me

my act of defiance toward someone that I'm beginning to hate....

I feel your pain

I see your tears

But I harden my heart

Because of the pain you have caused

To my heart, my soul

 

You have to realize

That I am not coming back

To move on, get on with my life

That is what I must do

 

You have damaged

The better part of me

But you will not

Hold me down ever again

 

I am determined

I am stronger without you

I have my spirit and the light

From inside to guide me

That you can never take away

 

So, no matter what you say

No matter what you do

Just remember…

I am me

 

And that, you can never change.

AFTER NOTE: I actually don't hate him..I will always love him in some ways, but there are times that he gets to me and at the time that i wrote this, I was not liking him very much....so I guess hate is a very strong word for what i feel toward him. to forgive is something that i think will eventually happen, but i will never forget....AT

reading this is very true It is the most hardest thing to do is to leave but you know in your heart you have to because you feeling pieces of ourselves are being damaged and we feel and know we don't feel the same as before.a wonderful write dear.when I was younger i was told some people don't change their stripes they are who they are you can't change them no matter how hard you try.Now you can be at peace and be able to move on cause you excepted things the why they are. good job keep writting sorry have'nt gotten to it sooner

Woah this is extremely powerful! You are so full of understanding. This poem really grips the reader. The emotions are so poignant and true and honest. This is a very honest poem and yet I think they are words that need to be said. Love and Hate are very close and so it's hard to rise above these feelings.
