Fear and shame aren't mine to carry
Even if they so often tempt me.
Although I know my sin's darkness, it's night,
Rising above it is the vision of His light,
For He came into the world offering salvation
Unto those whose hearts earned condemnation.
Lo, He reaches into my soul's depths with His grace;
Love seeks my burden to carry, not just to erase.
Yes, He is justice and He is mercy.
And He gives me hope in this:
No longer am I of the world but I am His.
“Don't you know I purchased you back, though you were always Mine?”
Wonderful is the knowledge of Him,
Oh, beautiful the works of His hands,
Not wrought dismissively but in fearful care, limb by limb,
Do I know my beauty as before Him I stand?
Even now I am not sure, but knowing my Creator,
Rightfully I claim forgiveness though I am a traitor,
Fear I had before Him until He assured me His grace,
Under condemnation I lived until He met me face to face.
Loyalty deeper than the deepest of wells,
Love that burns like fire, in my heart it swells:
You loved me first, by no beauty of my own, and adorned me exquisitely.
Made in Your image, but marred when we broke the world and Your heart,
And yet, You came to save us like we were a treasure of incalculable price,
Deemed lovely by Your gaze, Yours is a view that can more than suffice,
Evidencing to me, though I'm unworthy, beauty is mine in Your eyes.
