And so the salmon swims upstream against the current.
Against the odds of physics it makes it to the
Destination where she lays her eggs. A lady in a wheelchair
crosses the finish line in first place, while those who ran
On two legs have fallen down. The homely girl becomes the prom date
At a high school graduation with the popular star quarterback.
Against all odds. A dream and desire combine to focus on the
Nearly impossible. Thoughts of my first love from over
Thirty years ago entered my weekly dreams. We met again at a place
And time that was reserved for salmon, people in wheelchairs,
And homely souls looking for love. I swam upstream, crossed a finish line,
And finally cried with tears as me and the bride kissed once again
Against the odds.....

Beautifully written, this is a beautiful piece that reads like both poetry and prose which is super cool. The flow is wonderful as well and definitely fits the subject matter. However the second to last line sounds a little bit awkward, and I'm not sure if that's just me and it was intended to be that way.
