Dark

The darkness is constantly consuming me.

I’m swallowed whole as the light fades from few.

Like Little Drummer Boy my heart pounds in my chest.

I close my eyes but I can’t find any rest.

Like a weight on my chest it is pressing down on me.

I cry and quiver like a newborn pup.

I should probably just turn on the light.

But I’m far too lazy to get up.

Darkness is consuming. Three different ways I was told: dark and light exist in each being, dark is the abyss, and that it's better to embrace the darkness. I go through the motions, and I still don't understand if darkness is in my heart, mind, or both. Food for thought.

I like the layout you demonstrated on this piece, it reads well and is appeasing to the eyes and mind. Please keep writing, for I love reading everything here, and I think you are a great writer. Great work :)
