You take me away

People

I am sick

And I  know that

I don't want to live another day being sick

I  am old now

I have cancer

And the cancer is eating me away

So please God let me die today in peace

Because I am ready to die now

So please God can you shut my body down

And let me die tonight

God I am begging you to put an end  to my suffering

I am still lying in this hospital bed

And I am having lots of pain

That doesn't go away

So God can you please take me away with you to heaven

Comes a time when life might still be precious to those trained to see life holy and worth holding onto with the tips of the fingers. But when we greave we greave for selves whilst whoever has gone through hell - sometimes for years - has wanted to fade away with dignity and a nod of the head. Have seen that of darling siblings who fought their weaknesses with a dignity that lost its battle before many an every nightfall.

Your poem is more than courageous because it is written from both your mind and heart. Bless you
