Power of Tongue

Power of Tongue

A Story by Alexa Louise Mendoza

“A tiny spark can put a great forest on fire”, a saying that we sometimes hear. But do you understand the idea it wants to convey? For you, what is the most powerful weapon in this world?

The most powerful weapon is our tongue. Despite of its size, it can destroy someone’s life. A sword, a gun, a knife or any sharp objects cannot equal to the power of the tongue. The saying above symbolizes the things that a tongue can do. When you’re talking against a person, making rumors that doesn’t real or back fighting someone, it can ruin his life because that rumors you had created will spread as quick as the 'fire in the forest that started from a tiny spark'.

Our life depends on the tongue, it can make our life either successful or a destruction. Whether we will bless someone or curse them.

No other weapon can be as powerful as the tongue even a gun or a knife. Of course, any sharp objects can hurt you or sometimes can be the reason of your death but still the pain that can make by the tongue when you’re underestimating, insulting or looking down on someone is more painful than the wound made by other weapons. The cut from a knife can heal for a few weeks or sometimes a few months but the wound created by the tongue will forever be fresh on our minds and even if we forgive someone who had insulted us, still there is a scar remained.

Very true. The tongue can make a bad situation good and a good situation bad.
