A Poem by Alexandria Miller

Monday

I slept too long.

But still woke with no sleep.

My eyes sunken in and clouded.

Tuesday

I worked overtime.

I stayed out all night.

I slept with a stranger.

Wednesday

I woke with dried tears

Crusted to my cheeks.

I didn’t make it to work,

Thursday

I filled my lungs with smoke

With strangers and loved ones.

I think I fell in love.

But Friday

I woke in the back of my car

Alone. With someone else’s blanket.

Parked in a church parking lot.

I could’ve sworn I fell asleep next to you, though.
