If, by the changing of the seasons
You should forget...
Stone will not forget
And I am stone.
Enduring, remembering, immovable.

A memory carved,
Outlasts the days
Recording what was once
For what shall come.

If, in our failing minds
Our memory fails,
My heart is stone
And shall endure
Recalling time, place and form
A laugh, a voice, our thoughts.
Past time should rest in stone.
Unchanging and eternal good.

Stone is cold, hard, sharp?

Not so.
In me, fire runs like blood
Turning cold stone to warm,
Sun-drenched and time-worn
My stone-heart is.
A place of rest for memory.
And fire rekindles
Burning, heat, burning, blaze,
Burning like a bush in a desert from another time.
