Crystal Ball

Crystal Ball

A Poem by Laz K.

Time was a transparent river

To the all-seeing eye in the sky.

Past, present, and future flowed

Freely from source to mouth, but

O, the crystal ball fell and

Shattered into a myriad shards.

Now, we have but useless, fractured

Prisms, squinting at the gaping schisms

Between me and you, each holding

Twisted fragments of what’s true.

A crystal ball shattering becomes a prism of itself, allowing each piece to be interpreted as each viewer sees fit... a bit like a crystal ball to begin with.
If only we could have used the crystal ball to see the crystal balls demise! 😃

A great use of metaphor in this piece Laz. Shattered shards of a relationship, how painful they are. Once broken into fragments, unlikely there will ever be healing. Relatable words for many. A sadness indeed.
