Legacy

Legacy

A Poem by Laz K.

Grant me, Lord,

A quiet corner to call my own,

Away from the noise,

From the clamoring crowds

That always want and

Want some more.

Some land, trees, and rocky soil:

Enough to break your back and

Still keep you poor.

I'll work in your garden,

Plant seeds of joy,

Weed out malice,

Thankful for the sun, the rain,

Humbly I'll toil.

When the day comes,

And all falls away,

The seeds and those trees

Will stay

They’ll stay.

WE may die poor...but the seeds we plant and harvest later...will become plants and trees that will steady through the harshest weather..and stay, oh yes they will stay...
I don't think the Lord could deny this request. It is not for riches but just a little spot to get away from the commotion of life...even just for a brief instant.

It’s not the material things in life that count. I hope some of the seeds I have planted will live on in the minds of my dear ones after I have gone. My love of the natural environment and trees has been a blessing. I hope others can also share that gift. Enjoyed your words Laz.

Nice humble write here......

I like the idea of putting aside all traditional ideas of "success" and trappings, and instead leaving something deeper behind....

Also it's interesting how you mention "weeding out malice......etc"

Thanks for sharing

Many want worldly success and all that goes with it: Fame, wealth and power. They don't foresee the downside: Struggle, criticism and stress. The meek don't have to deal with that. Maybe that's why they are called blessed.

It's all any sensible person really needs, isn't it?
A plot of land and a roof, away from all the noise from those pesky needy humans who all look the same anyway, just the top of their heads in view as they bow and worship their screens, clattering into those pesky others that don't matter because they live in their own head and not mine.
Call me bitter, but I think people are getting the message. Here in rural Inverness-shire, I used to come across signs that said "Trespassers will be shot!", because over here for some reason farmers are allowed firearms. Buy even they must be taking the hint and getting all technological... I saw a sign a few weeks ago at a hiking trail/beauty spot that said "Influencers will be shot!"
But it is good to feel safe in our own corner of the world, no matter where it is. I do feel safe, but only after checking the fourteen live cameras always set on record, to see if anyone had the nerve to walk anywhere near my abode. 😃
