Theology of Silence

Theology of Silence

A Poem by Laz K.

My faith is a jewel hidden in a cave;

A crystal that grows in the dark.

Over millennia, it lay slumbering

In silence, then gently roused by the

Soft, muffled music of the spheres,

Cradled, loved, nursed by the Earth,

It grew, like a pearl in a shell, lustrous,

Bright, though oblivious to light.

Reasoned minds would trample on it

With their clumsy boots,

Break it off, lock it in a glass case,

Label it for museum goers that,

Like dispirited children, would

Gloss over it and flock to the

Gift shop for trinkets and toys,

Mementos of a fine day when they,

Unknowingly, were in the presence of

Something sacred.

Well its not every day I say it Laz, but wow! This is not only pure poetry but pure thought as well, that reasons that we are all bigger than the sum of our parts and that perhaps we are made up of more than we know, or i know at least. Perhaps there is a strand of DNA that my knowledge has missed and we will find out once our cleverness catches up with how clever we think we are that faith is indeed visible in our DNA. It would also suggest why people like myself seem to have less of it than others, because sometimes we get smaller portions than others.
Have you ever watched a documentary called the crystal cave? I think its time i watched it again as it is truly awesome inspiring that these crystals grow in the dark under our very feet, without us evening knowing anything about them until some bright spark decided to venture them... a process which they now regret due to the damage it caused and the need for them to refill it with water to help them survive!

Hello! I’ve been reading your story and was genuinely impressed by how naturally the emotions unfold. Several scenes instantly translated into strong visual moments in my mind.
I’m a commission-based comic/webtoon artist, and if you’d ever like to explore a visual adaptation, I’d love to discuss it further.

I think many folks don't go deep enough into that cave.
And so many have a faith that is really just surface...they put on shows of faith, but
that is it...this poem describes true faith. What so many are missing.
