Fairness and Justice

Fairness and Justice

A Poem by Laz K.

Expelled from Eden,
Cursed, turned away.

It’s nobody’s fault;
You were meant to disobey.

That’s how the story goes
Since the dawn of time:
You’re not only the victim,
You are the crime.

Sad, sad son of Cain,
You’re right about trauma,
You’re right about pain:

For being human,
This is the price we pay.

But the heavy blows of blame
On your brother’s head
Are surely misplaced,
For he, like you,
Toils through thorns and thistles
To squeeze life from the dust
Till the day he dies - as he must.

Fairness and justice
Are beyond your scope;
Demand nothing;
Love, forgive,
And forever hope.

Of course, the naked lady and the talking snake are a myth, but like many myths it tells a truth about consciousness. Mankind is yet evolving, still caught up in the thorns and thistles. This is part of our heritage, and we must continue to evolve to grow beyond it. Hopefully, we will. Excellent rhyming in this one, and the last verse is a knockout.
