The Year Turns

The Year Turns

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

On aging

"

The Year Turns

and I am suddenly closer
To mortality.
His face quietly coming
Under mine.
When is that date you
Old bugaboo?
Can you see mine?

As you can see I'm
Not likely waiting,
I know it's inevitable
All waiting their turn
But the fear associated
With the end's near
Shall be least likely
To join me along.

My worst fear was a night on the bunker line where lightening triggered our gas canister and the wind was blowing in my direction. I literally froze, came to my senses & woke the guys, yelling GAS.

I wouldn't tempt the old bugaboo if I were you. :)
Good one Al. Have no fear.

this reminds me of Emily's "because i could not stop for death, he kindly stopped for me"
although opposite because this reaper is not waiting...not so much a gentleman...looking out more for himself.
