CLOSER THAN YOU THINK

hearing a strange silence

Closer Than You Think

I'm stymied in a silence 

that I didn't hear about.

Looking askance,

Feeling disapproval,

The coldness of the letters

shiver inside my womb.

I can't say why this 

strange silence visits me

unless there is some beauty

waiting to uncover me?

But I shan't look around

for in the darkness I have found

someone I know close to me.
