The Black Lullaby

The Black Lullaby

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

nam goes to eternal sleep

"

The Black Lullaby

vietnam with eyes wide open

waking my soul in turbulence woe

i coo

i calm

but the f****r won't leave me alone

it’s time to rest

to sleep in your own blackness

come vietnam I'll sing you a lullaby

that sounds so sweet

you think the war was a fun time

but once you close those eyes of yours

a hidden pillow will suffocate my just cause.

They have come a long way toward silence and death but they still squirm. Thanks for visiting.

a dark and heavy piece, Al... those memories haunt us forever but perhaps, just maybe, if you can quiet them enough they will die in the silence...

I figure if I write it down it might start to thin out, bleed into non memory. Who knows?

Thanks Jacob!

Al

wow, this is so heavy....

that voice, that conscience of war that just won't give peaceful sleep...until the final suffocation from the memories.
