Memorial Day

Memorial Day

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

Dying young

"

Memorial Day

I feel the rain feeding my soul
Tears of 100,000 men soaking the soil
A flag turns inward
A salute and a cry
Oh God why do men die?
Young
Still trying their foolishness on the world
From small steps to large steps
Paving their way in the world
Then a last breath
The closing of eyes
Have you not heard
Men die before their time?

I sent it to all my vet buddies who served. I thank them every year for their service. Thanks Jacob!

this is beautiful, Al...what a stirring tribute, ending with a really good question...one that once answered, maybe we can stop this bloodshed and loss of life for once and for all.

...so many, so so many died before their time...however do we thank them for their sacrifice?

staggering words here, Alfred...

Heartfelt, moving and honest.
I really wish it wasn't so...
Lovely words that move the heart, Al.

I always feel a grace about you, like the spirit of the holy, who looks upon my words in a sacredness of honesty.

Al

Just writing what i feel, Al... and this one really spoke to me... - FT
Yes, Al, why do they die so young? You empty your heart-felt thoughts in this one, my friend; that cry into the world for those whose lives were cut short... well done!
