Cornerstone

Cornerstone

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

A family moment

"

Cornerstone

Upon a myth of returning son
Land as free as the high noon sun
My mother stands awaiting her boy
Currents waver sure of a joy
Son steps excitedly in dressed up greens
He's almost waiting for time to freeze

A rush of excitement
A mother's embrace
It seems like a cornerstone
Of her love filled with grace
I felt family for the first time
was Vietnam an avenue to
Find my moment in time?

Happy trails, Al... enjoy the trip :)
perhaps it was...it brought families closer and it tore them apart.

and so many mothers stood awaiting their boys...praying...hoping providence and grace would bring them back home.

yes, sometimes we have to venture far from the family to enjoy the 'cornerstone' welcome and feeling we get upon our return... I have recently moved back to the family home, the home in which I was born, and though my parents are gone, the cornerstone of memories remain and I have been welcomed by the love they built and left for my siblings and I... a beautiful poem, Al
