Father's Day

Father's Day

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

10 years now

"

Father's Day

He's here in the ground with me.
I'm atop of his deadness
Light, dark, day, night
I'm in the groove
His ashes see a darkness
Covered by soil
My father on his day
Lives no more

If ash could breathe
What would it say
Hello I'm dead for you today

In a grateful son silence
In bowed head
I'm looking at the soil
Where father lay dead.

Very touching, Al...favorite line : "If ash could breathe
What would it say
Hello I'm dead for you today ".....magical and haunting.

Perhaps Kelly but so much was missing from our relationship. Thanks Kelly!

...such a gripping read, Alfred. I'm inclined to believe that he knows you're there!

this is incredible, Al...

so moving...and that line, so haunting "I'm atop of his deadness"

Time does not make the loss any lighter... there is a heaviness to your words, like the soil resting on your father... i feel it as I lost my dad this past October and this will be the first Father's Day that I will not be able to sit with him, sing for him, eat with him, and share conversation with him... well-done, Al
