Dead to NoWhere

murder in war

Dead to NoWhere

Disjointed, calm in the heat of battle,
He looked with both eyes
at a death of his own making
Like a disembodied soul he drifted
like so many that day
wondering, floating in the air,
His heart reaching forgiveness
His head aside a long train to nowhere
Men kept floating upward
by the dozens
Some never landing
Some now living on another realm
Some always wondering at a death
of their own making.

When he crossed the plain
When ordinary abandoned his mind
He looked at both his eyes
Eyes that told him
He killed a man.

Disassociation is the only way to go on from the act. Some men love the kill. They must really want a great amount of distance from who they are.

Again, thanks, I really rever this wonderful relationship!

Regards,
Al

i see this, yes as war, the bodies floating upward...but today remembering 9/11

i also see a semblance to that tragedy...even as so many jumped from the towers, and gravity pulled their bodies down, their souls rose from the rubble towards heaven...

i cannot imagine what goes through a person's mind when that person has had to take another human life...however, through your words, i can sense the out-of-body feeling that must be attached to such an event...well-done, my friend
