A Monster's Smile

A Monster's Smile

A Monster's Smile

I laid on my bed answering to no one
My eyes in distant shadows
A silence turned pages of yesterday's
I am of these experiences and rhymes
On a loft of hay I sink into the smell
of nursery rhymes
I feed this goodness to a wretched monster of past murmurs
and gaze upon a smile rarely known to one so bold.

we turn to the nursery rhymes because there are too many real monsters now...and they deprived us of not only sleep, but waking hours as well....
