Old Man's Tree

Old Man's Tree

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

it never grew

"

Old Man's Tree

The old man's tree
A scrawny branch
Fickle beyond belief
He sat down one day
on a branch
and paused his life
in the coming century.

My old man planted a number of fruit trees but never cared for them for many years. Thanks guy!

i really like the metaphor...many of us live on those scrawny branches....when i was a kid, the neighbor had this willow tree...gave my dad a branch....my dad planted it....the neighbor's tree died in a month and our tree ended up growing so high it hovered over their garage...

never know how a branch will fare...or a man?
