"
So Innocence Could Prevail

There were hoots and hollers
A sign of evidence as morning dew
snugly rested on his lapel.
He had been there
among lilacs, clear waters,
an enveloping sense that
fairies would soon arrive.

There was a smile in his gait
A humbleness in his stride
The kind of smile that enchanted the sky
He kneeled among the clovers,
greeted the new born fairies,
Inhaled the dreaded horrors
so innocence could prevail

Their was favor in him
He fostered many of children's days
Among his finest attributes was a courage
A courage deep in faithfulness
that went beyond the pale of all living things
He was my friend in the grand scheme of things
simply a new version of you and I.

The dreaded there haunts me. Thank you for the corrections! Sorry but the narrator's child is imprisoned by agent orange. However, I find him in my dreams.

Regards,
Al

I wish there was some way to inhale the dreaded horrors these days, so innocence could prevail. I'm afraid your fantasy might be a pipe dream, but a lovely one that I wish for today's youth. Your message is original, thought-provoking, & well-stated. I'm not sure who "he" is, in the second-to-last line, but it sounds like it might be referring to the narrator's child.

First words of 2nd & 3rd stanza should be "there" (not "their").
