What Name was Given to that Smile on his Crest

What Name was Given to that Smile on his Crest

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

my kids are here!

"

What Name was Given to that Smile on his Crest

I have bartered with terror
On an Agent Orange's dread
cursed by a war that killed my seed dead
He lives inside me, imprisoned by poison
I hear him crying for his life to be born
and so you imagine him in the flesh
What name was Given to that smile on his crest.
Be he Adam or Nick or Alfred or John
He is my son that I love till I fall.

And.......

My sweet little girl who loves me dear
Shall I conjure my imagination to find her near
Shall we dance in circles with my wife & kids
Like a Daddy who once told me
love your kids till it hurts.

Thanks KL!

I visit my sister's boy, Rob, always thinking he would love my son as I love him.

This is an amazing poem, poignant and real. Sad, but relieved.

Thanks E!

It is far better to know that my children remain in my heart and soul than born with a dreaded birth defect from the dioxin molecule.

Agent Orange....how many men were rendered infertile by being exposed to this horrible poison? How many families were never created and children never born? The emotional pain in this poem is powerful. So many who should never be parents are given that gift and so many who desperately want children can not make that happen. Life can be cruel. The intensity of emotion in this one moved me. Lydi**

such pain and hurt in your poem sir! there are terrors ..all kinds ..but when something man made is the culprit the horror of that tragedy is far deeper ... when solace can only be found in ones own mind the happiness of it is covered in tears still ...hats off to you sir ..God be with you always with peace and comfort beyond measure .. Viet Nam Vets have a very distinct stigma to the service given ... never hailed until recently and then as a passing "favor" ... wishing you well my friend!
