Can we turn the First Amendment into bullshit?

How about the famous one "buy here and save"?

Or "buy more, save more"!

When in the course of human events.....................

Or "To be or not to be"!

Is this where choices lie?

How about the comedian who makes your belly laugh with 1st Amendment words?

Or the dead soldier as in The Silence of His Words

Perhaps a small leaf speaks aloud in a crisp moment of autumn

Where are the words, the words for a new millennium

Are they in the ancient text on the wind?

I kind of went around the bend, feeling a bit of demise and speculation on the constitution. I recently read the constitution was meant so the landowners could keep the land and the peasants remained peasants. Quite an eye opener!

This poem had me chuckling at first....those first few lines were quite humorous, and then the poem did an about face and drfited off in an unexpected direction, and a very masterful one at that.

A great use of personification.....i nearly heard those leaves speaking to me crisply.

"a small leaf speaks aloud in a crisp moment of autumn" this line....OH MY....this line. The first amendment is bandied about a lot these days. I think it has been used and abused. The first amendment was not meant to be interpreted as it is now....in my humble opinion. Perhaps ancient text, but still worthy. Powerful write, Al. Lydi**

Wow. What a powerful, philosophical poem that raises many important questions. Capitalism has turned the human existence to merely greedy seekers, buyers and savers where nothing larger than life matters except those things that are selfish and not caring. There are so many great things in life that we can do and make a difference in the larger society other than the rat race , too...:).............

I recall Herman Hesse saying in one of his novels that we should bring something of the old with the new.
I think that's where this is coming from.

i love this poem...philosophically so sound...and the idea of the leaf speaking aloud in the crisp moment of autumn...they sure do...
and words are twisted into whatever suits the speaker...doesn't anything traditional stay?
