PrayerA Poem by Alfred KukitzOrganized religionPrayer I once knew a prayer that kindly said to me "God loves you, won't you love him". I knelt in silence looked hard at the prayer and said to it softy will you please leave the establishment It said it couldn't because it found context within its place But I said to it the place is a disgrace. It badgers, punishes, scolds by the day leaving the children lost in their ways. The prayer simply turned away from my words It embraced its lie like a mother hugging its birth. © 2017 Alfred Kukitz |
