She Flies

She Flies

A Poem by Alfred Kukitz
"

"
She Flies
How often have I seen you in the sky
floating and flying on joy's wings
While I sag further in Nam Blue
the colors that bind me to the cemetery of my fallen ones.
Will not a prayer release me from my lot
A divine crayon to change the color of my soul
Yet she flies on
If only I could reach her
knowing joy on wings so hard to reach.

"while I sag further in Nam Blue"
excellent line...
you paint such a picture here of the heartache of war and of lost love, in combination.
