Sorry

Sorry

A Poem by Allison Dunn

I'm sorry
I hurt you
I lied to you

I almost killed you
I was your last straw
Before you tried to leave

Before you opened the door
And grabbed two bottles you saw
Your's and your father's
Opening the lids, five in the mouth at once
Last thing you remembered were the pills

Waking up in the hospital
A heart monitor beeping
Knowing your father had saved you
You wanted to die

When your father sees you
He asks you why
So you lie to protect me
Even though I lied to you

Please don't end your life today
