The Problem and the CureA Poem by KelseyI tire of the days, the days that once were ours. You said "forever, love," as I glanced upon the flowers. You took your gentle hand, placed it upon my own. You gently kissed my lips, said to me, the world, you owed. I shyly wiped the tears, I tried to kiss you back. The love, it was still there, the passion, though, I lacked. The first time you left a bruise, I gazed into the mirror. It faded in much time, swore my vision, never clearer. Next time, the wound, it bled, tears welled up in my eyes. You said never again, as you begged me not to cry. I said I'd never leave, these years would not be wasted. Swore I'd never fallen victim, to the hateful words, so blatant. Only a few months later, you went a step too far. I tried to crawl away, my head soon met a metal bar. Blood poured from every angle, you hurried to the floor. You cupped my face inside your hands, and kissed me just once more. "I'm sorry, love, I promise, my dear, never again." This time you really meant it, had I only known it then.
