Blackened

Blackened

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Blackened is the love
In the fireplace, ashes
Of a letter once written
Now discarded, the love
Mourning, burning thoughts
In smoke, rising scattered
Disappearing, chimney in view
A love finally lost, dead
In wisps, grey dust
Smoking.

I am standing there putting that fire out
No love should burn

Or just letting go to accept the new! Ta marcus
love,it is a strange feeling with many emotions
more songs about lost love than anything else
it can heal you or it can kill you

like Beccy said..."we can burn the letter"---but yes, "that memory is permanently imprinted within the soul of our heart.

We can burn a letter, but memories are forever and indelibly printed in the heart and mind.

Thank you beccy I suppose it varies slightly if a new love is replacing what was once a love but no.. read more
a sad image you have given us, Andrew... instead of love burning in the heart it vanishes in smoke beyond the hearth...I guess it's the only way to make sure it's over...nicely-penned, my friend
