I don't know what it was!

I don't know what it was!

A Poem by andrew mitchell

She gave me
Something
That added to
Nothing.
In the end
Subtracted
Gone.

you never know lol
this poem wins the succinct award in my mind .. its a mind teasing twister ... i have decided on what she gave had surface substance that quickly dissipated ... yet she took a piece of the speaker with her ... the closing line "Gone" is the most intriguing for me ... its so abrupt and final ... she's not buried in the back yard is she?? :}

this can have many different meanings.....there wasn't much substance to her to begin with...

or i was nothing without her, and i am nothing again since she is gone.

and sometimes what she gives isn't worth the sum of the parts, and in the end, better that she is gone.
