That box!

That box!

A Poem by andrew mitchell

That box!
I bought a box!
What you put in the box
You get out of the box.
If you take out
More than you put in.
The box will be empty.
Wonder if I need a bigger box?
You only get what you pay for.
I mean.....
How big can empty get!
I should have bought
The box within a box
Within a box.
I feel boxed in!
Does this box have
Twelve rounds or ten?
Oh! Wrong box!
A lot of thought
Goes into a box!

thanks for the kind review john
I have a story about a box, but it is not appropriate for this box. fun again. and it wasn't square so it was not a cube, but a box, yet how can a box not be a cube, well now I am confused and must review what you had to say about the right box.

Thanks for letting me play along with the home game. But you need better prizes.

Hands down! You are the maestro of taking seemingly banal objects out of their regular perception and transform them into objects of such profundity.
"How big can empty get"- Splendid concept, absolute gem!

Brilliant use of lines, rhetoric of containment has never been more effectively channelized in a poem.

Keep up the good work,

Best,
M,

Thanks Terry rather belated sorry!
it's an Andrew in the box...the toy that keeps on entertaining for hours...it's good to keep a box cutter in your pocket for those times when you are so deep in the box you think you will never get out...my mom ran a grocery store so our house was always full of boxes and my younger brother and I were quite creative...

you are welcome, Andrew
Witty piece. An anxious corner of my brain is a little worried about being "boxed in", but mostly this piece makes me think of children on birthdays or holidays who enjoy boxes more than their contents. Who knew boxes could be so interesting?

Ha! Food for thought. A box half full is better than a box half empty.
