Fitting into yesterday.

Fitting into yesterday.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Fitting into yesterday.
I tried to fit
into shoes
left behind.
They were too big.
They were my father's.....
I tried to fit
into shoes
left behind;
mine from yesterday.
They were too small.
I had changed
I was older.....

Sighs. When I think of yesterday's . As I look back for a moment. Savoring sweet reveries. I think...How far we've come and grown, so subtle
the change. I hadn't realized until you've put into words. Clever and masterfully done.

Why thank you Roma so much for your kind words!:)
Andrew I love the premise behind this and the metaphor too. I'd love to see you describe the feelings of trying both pairs of shoes on rather than just saying - "They were too big, they were my father's" - you could say "My feet drowned in the ample supple leather of my father's Sunday best brogues." And for the 'They were too small..." perhaps something like "Age had expanded my feet's beyond the confines of my own old shoes but still not enough to comfortably wear my father's"
its more show than tell.. let us know using the feelings and the metaphor mate.
I do love the premise. Its pure poetry.
