They weren't always homeless.

They weren't always homeless.

A Poem by andrew mitchell

Cold descends
dark heavy nights,
starring down flames
fiery black drums,
rising smoke blankets
the stars above.

The forgotten gathers
warming hands rub
on yesterday's reflections;
what one... had.

Silently pondering
what tomorrow gives,
sharing the despair
that loneliness brings.

True... "tomorrow" is neither seen nor will it be ev'r watched but it's oft. predicted ov'r the analogies of happenings.

"Silently pondering, what morrow gives sharing the despair.. " very deep and realistic line it is. Seemed, the metaphor's pointing something to the humanity of modernism that's, shamelessly, crushed down 'neath the feet. Nice imagery you've come up with!

Medieval castles afforded protection to the people within their walls - those outside were left to the wolves and bandits - now the bricks and mortar of those castle have been replaced by the attitudes of society at large - the outcasts still left to the wolves and bandits.

At least they haven't been totally forgotten. Thank you for reminding us about people who suffer.

Thank you Firebird
many of us are just a paycheck away from rubbing our hands over a fire in a trash barrel to stay warm....

very moving write....

loneliness, despair and shivering...it just seems so unfair, especially when we are always lending a hand to other countries...when we have these unfortunate people in ours...where is the help for them?
