One of the frist thing I was told by the trio of writers I hung out with (and asked a hundred questions an hour while I did) was to take note and never throw them out. Often I will have an idea two lines long just to have it slip between my fingers and months, even years go by and I come across the note and the idea blooms back within my mind and birth or rebirth I should say to a poem. So keep a notepad with you at all time and even if it is just 3 or 4 words that sound good, write it down. Yes I have a closet that has not room for clothing in it after fifty years of notes and I can't find what I'm looking for when I do look but you don't have to take it as literal as I did :~)
