The Diamond

The Diamond

A Poem by andrew mitchell

The Diamond
Concealed enchantment
countless centuries old
on facets that shine
It's charm holds.
Crystalised beauty
possessing minds,
fever given,
on those......
plenty of time.
Glitter, glitter
oh! she blinds
wealth is given,
death in mines.
Windows of cold
we all wear well
collectors are we.
Look!.... another sell.

i was just watching a documentary on labor, wages and abuse in those mines ..as well as around the globe ... in other areas .. it was on the PIVOT channel .. well done! an issue that absolutely escapes us if and when we have the wherewithal to purchase such a glass ... embargoes and punitive sanctions can go along way if many cooperate ... also makes me think of the movie "Blood Diamond" ... well said sir!

Thanks E there are many facets to a diamond!
now I think you are in my head because I'm over here writing about diamond shoes. The poems are nothing alike so... The flow is great, I can feel the movement... especially, that last stanza..I can hear it aloud.

Thank you Jesse for your kind words
Not the stone but the one that gives it to you...that makes it precious for me. Valentine
