His Cosmos

His Cosmos

A Poem by andrew mitchell

He always thought
he lived in
his own cosmos
in body and mind:
an orderly harmonious system.

                                       Then....
           meeting her,
                           his opposite,       he noticed
her own world of                                           chaos

             in a state of confusion
                                                         highly sensitive
                               to initial conditions
causing very complex
                                                                          behavioral events.

Their worlds complimented each other first
only to find peace on separation,
only in the bedroom
when two worlds collided as one
they stood united in love.

It is the belief that if a butterfly
flaps its wings in one world,
it can cause a hurricane in another.

On experience he found this true.
feeling her hurricane in anger
while the kids felt cocooned
in butterfly wings, hugs.

Storms rained on his cosmos
while calm settled
on her chaos.
Together they
became Ying and Yang,
and the children......
just more chaos.

you wrote my relationship with my second EX to a tee in this one...lots of love, but so chaotic it was...

and yet we are still close.

I love how you see her beyond others' views and your sense of empowerment 💑
